Why mulch? Not only does mulching give a yard that neat, "finished" look, but it provides your plants with many benefits. Mulch keeps root systems cooler and helps to hold moisture in the soil. It also acts as a weed-preventer, by smothering down much of the weeds that would normally germinate on bare soil. Lastly, as mulch breaks down, it puts vital nutrients back into the soil that plants need.

Here at Ira Smith's in West Bridgewater we offer four different types of quality bark mulch for your landscaping needs:

  • Dark Pine Bark Mulch
  • Rich Natural Hemlock Mulch
  • Red Cedar Mulch
  • Black Forest Mulch

They are all available for pick-up or delivery. Our mulches are made from 100% pure bark and do not contain any wood fillers or recycled products. Because our mulch is pure bark, we do not treat it with any chemicals, so what you're getting is top-quality bark mulch without any of the headaches found in cheaper imitations (i.e. toxins, bug infestations, chemicals etc.).

How Much Mulch Do You Need?

Determining how much mulch you will need to landscape your yard is easy by referring to the information below.

Generally, 1 yard of mulch will cover an area 80 sq. ft.- 2 inches deep.

For those smaller areas or tough jobs, we offer our mulch by the bag or you're welcome to bring your own trash barrels to fill as well. Price varies on size of container. Please call with any questions.

Loam

We carry rich, screened farm loam as well! Available for pickup or delivery, this top quality loam isn't cut with sand or other materials that some suppliers use to "cheapen" the product. The result? A nutrient rich soil that will have your lawn or garden growing strong and healthy for years to come. Here's how to determine amount of loam needed for your landscaping. Generally, 1 yard of loam will cover 100 sq.ft- 2 inches deep.
